Brother MFC-L2710DW Offline Fix – Step-by-Step
Category: Troubleshooting · Brand: Brother
The Brother MFC-L2710DW is a wireless mono laser all-in-one. When it shows offline, the cause is almost always a network disconnection or IP address change.
Quick Check: Is the MFC-L2710DW on the Network?
- On the printer press Menu > Network > TCP/IP > IP Address
- Note the IP address — if it shows 0.0.0.0, the printer has lost network connectivity
- Alternatively, print a Network Configuration Report: Menu > Print Reports > Network Config
Fix 1: Set Printer Online in Windows
- Control Panel > Devices and Printers
- Right-click Brother MFC-L2710DW series
- See what's printing > Printer (menu bar)
- If Use Printer Offline is checked, click to uncheck it
Fix 2: Clear the Print Queue
- In the print queue, click Printer > Cancel All Documents
- Windows + R > services.msc > Print Spooler > Restart
Fix 3: Reconnect to Wi-Fi
If the IP address is 0.0.0.0:
- Press Menu > Network > WLAN > Setup Wizard
- Select your Wi-Fi network and enter the password
- The printer restarts and acquires a new IP address
Fix 4: Update the Port IP Address
If the printer's IP changed:
- Print a Network Config report to find the new IP
- Control Panel > Devices and Printers > right-click printer > Printer properties > Ports
- Select the port > Configure Port > enter the new IP
Fix 5: Assign a Static IP to Prevent Future Offline Issues
- Access the printer's web interface by entering its IP in a browser
- Go to Network > TCP/IP > IP Address
- Change from DHCP to Static and enter an IP outside your DHCP range
Fix on Mac
- System Settings > Printers & Scanners
- Remove the Brother MFC-L2710DW
- Add it back using the correct IP address
