Fix Brother Printer Printing Blank Pages
Category: Troubleshooting · Brand: Brother
Brother printers printing blank pages affect both laser and inkjet models but for different reasons. Laser blank pages usually mean toner or drum issues; inkjet blank pages mean clogged nozzles.
For Brother Laser Printers
Check 1: Shake the Toner Cartridge
Remove the toner cartridge and gently rock it side to side to redistribute toner. Reinstall and test.
Check 2: Remove Toner Seal
New toner cartridges have a plastic seal that must be removed before installation. Pull the orange or yellow tab completely out.
Check 3: Replace the Drum Unit
The drum unit transfers toner to paper. A worn drum causes faint or blank output. Brother drum units typically last 12,000–15,000 pages.
Check 4: Check Transfer Belt/Roll
In color Brother lasers, the transfer belt moves toner from the drum to the paper. Inspect it for damage.
For Brother Inkjet Printers
Check 1: Run Print Head Cleaning
- On the printer, press Ink > Cleaning > Start
- Run up to 3 cycles if needed
- Print a test page after each cycle
Check 2: Check Ink Levels
Press Ink on the printer to check cartridge levels. Replace any empty cartridges.
Check 3: Check Print Head Alignment
From the printer menu: Ink > Improve Print Quality > Check Print Quality. Follow alignment instructions.
Check 4: Soak the Print Head
If severely clogged, remove the print head (if removable) and soak it in warm distilled water for 10–15 minutes. Dry and reinstall.
