Fix Lexmark Printer Printing Blank Pages
Category: Troubleshooting · Brand: Lexmark
Lexmark printers printing blank pages are typically caused by toner, drum, or print head issues depending on whether you have a laser or inkjet model.
For Lexmark Laser Printers
Check 1: Inspect the Toner Cartridge
Remove the toner cartridge and shake it side-to-side to redistribute toner. Look for the pull tab — new cartridges have a sealing strip that must be pulled out before installation.
Check 2: Check the Drum Unit
The drum unit transfers toner to paper. Open the printer and examine the drum for damage or extreme wear. A cracked or worn drum produces blank or faded output.
Check 3: Check Transfer Roller
The transfer roller applies electrical charge to pull toner to the paper. A failed transfer roller produces completely blank pages.
Check 4: Test with a New Cartridge
If in doubt, install a fresh genuine Lexmark toner cartridge to rule out a depleted or defective cartridge.
For Lexmark Inkjet Printers
Check 1: Run Nozzle Check
Open Lexmark Printer Software > Maintenance > Print a Test Page or Nozzle Check. If nozzles are missing, run the cleaning cycle.
Check 2: Run Print Head Cleaning
From the printer maintenance screen, run the clean print head utility 2–3 times. Print a test page between cycles.
Check 3: Check Ink Levels
Open the Lexmark printer utility on your computer to check ink levels. Replace any empty cartridges.
Check 4: Check Paper Settings
Ensure the paper type setting in the print dialog matches the paper loaded. A mismatch can cause ink not to adhere.
