How to Connect Canon Printer to iPhone

Category: Setup · Brand: Canon

You can connect a Canon printer to an iPhone using Apple AirPrint (built into iOS) or the Canon PRINT Inkjet/SELPHY app. Both methods require your printer to be on the same WiFi network as your iPhone.

Method 1: AirPrint (No App Needed)

AirPrint works with all Canon PIXMA, MAXIFY, and imageCLASS printers manufactured after 2012.

  1. Ensure your Canon printer is connected to WiFi (see setup guide)
  2. On your iPhone, open any app that supports printing (Photos, Safari, Mail, etc.)
  3. Tap the Share icon (box with arrow)
  4. Scroll down and tap Print
  5. Tap Printer and your Canon printer should appear
  6. Select it, choose your options, and tap Print

Method 2: Canon PRINT App

The Canon PRINT Inkjet/SELPHY app offers more options including scanning from your iPhone.

  1. Download Canon PRINT Inkjet/SELPHY from the App Store
  2. Open the app and tap Add Printer
  3. The app discovers Canon printers on your network
  4. Select your printer to complete setup
  5. Use the app to print photos, documents, or scan

Troubleshooting

Printer not appearing in AirPrint:

  • Confirm printer and iPhone are on the same WiFi network (not one on 2.4GHz and the other on 5GHz)
  • Restart the printer and try again
  • Some printers require firmware updates to support newer iOS versions

Can't add printer in Canon PRINT app:

  • Ensure Bluetooth and WiFi are both enabled on your iPhone during setup
  • Check that the printer's wireless light is solid
