How to Connect Canon Printer to iPhone
Category: Setup · Brand: Canon
You can connect a Canon printer to an iPhone using Apple AirPrint (built into iOS) or the Canon PRINT Inkjet/SELPHY app. Both methods require your printer to be on the same WiFi network as your iPhone.
Method 1: AirPrint (No App Needed)
AirPrint works with all Canon PIXMA, MAXIFY, and imageCLASS printers manufactured after 2012.
- Ensure your Canon printer is connected to WiFi (see setup guide)
- On your iPhone, open any app that supports printing (Photos, Safari, Mail, etc.)
- Tap the Share icon (box with arrow)
- Scroll down and tap Print
- Tap Printer and your Canon printer should appear
- Select it, choose your options, and tap Print
Method 2: Canon PRINT App
The Canon PRINT Inkjet/SELPHY app offers more options including scanning from your iPhone.
- Download Canon PRINT Inkjet/SELPHY from the App Store
- Open the app and tap Add Printer
- The app discovers Canon printers on your network
- Select your printer to complete setup
- Use the app to print photos, documents, or scan
Troubleshooting
Printer not appearing in AirPrint:
- Confirm printer and iPhone are on the same WiFi network (not one on 2.4GHz and the other on 5GHz)
- Restart the printer and try again
- Some printers require firmware updates to support newer iOS versions
Can't add printer in Canon PRINT app:
- Ensure Bluetooth and WiFi are both enabled on your iPhone during setup
- Check that the printer's wireless light is solid
