How to Find WPS PIN on HP Printer

Category: Setup · Brand: HP

The WPS PIN method lets you connect your HP printer to WiFi by entering a PIN into your router's WPS page instead of typing the WiFi password on the printer.

What is WPS PIN?

WPS (Wi-Fi Protected Setup) has two methods:

  • Push Button: Press a button on both the router and printer
  • PIN Method: Enter an 8-digit PIN from the printer into your router's web interface

How to Find the WPS PIN on HP Printers

Method 1: Via the Control Panel (Touchscreen Models)

  1. On your HP printer, tap the wireless icon or go to Settings
  2. Navigate to Network Setup or Wireless Settings
  3. Select Wi-Fi Protected Setup
  4. Choose PIN Method
  5. The 8-digit WPS PIN will be displayed on screen

Method 2: Print a Wireless Network Test Report

Some HP printers print a network information page that includes the WPS PIN:

  1. Go to Setup > Reports > Wireless Network Test Report
  2. The PIN may appear on this printout

Method 3: HP Smart App

  1. Open the HP Smart app on your phone or computer
  2. Add a new printer

  4. The app will guide you through WPS PIN setup

Using the WPS PIN on Your Router

  1. Log in to your router's admin panel (usually 192.168.1.1)
  2. Find the WPS section
  3. Enter the PIN displayed on your HP printer
  4. Complete the connection

WPS PIN Doesn't Work?

Some newer routers have disabled WPS due to security concerns. Use the wireless setup wizard method instead, which requires entering the WiFi password directly on the printer.
