How to Scan Document from Brother Printer to Computer

Brother printers with scanning capability can send scans directly to your computer using the scan button, Brother ControlCenter, or Brother iPrint&Scan.
Method 1: Use the Scan Button on the Printer
- Place the document face-down on the scanner glass or face-up in the ADF
- Press the Scan button on the printer
- Use the arrow keys to select Scan to PC
- Select File, Email, Image, or OCR
- Press OK or Start
- The scan is sent to the default folder on your computer (usually Documents > Brother)
Method 2: Brother iPrint&Scan (Windows/Mac)
- Open Brother iPrint&Scan on your computer
- Click Scan
- Adjust settings: color/mono, resolution, file type
- Click Scan to begin
- Save the scanned file to your chosen location
Method 3: Windows Fax and Scan (WIA)
- Open Windows Fax and Scan from the Start menu
- Click New Scan
- Select your Brother printer as the scanner
- Set resolution, color, and format options
- Click Scan
Method 4: Scan to Email
- Press Scan on the printer
- Select Scan to Email
- Select your email client
- The scan attaches to a new email draft
Tip: Increase Scan Resolution
For documents that will be OCR'd or zoomed in on, use 300 DPI or higher. For previews and quick reference, 150 DPI is sufficient.
