HP ENVY 6055 Not Printing – How to Fix
Category: Troubleshooting · Brand: HP
The HP ENVY 6055 uses Instant Ink subscription cartridges, which adds a layer of complexity when troubleshooting printing problems. Here's how to fix it.
Check Instant Ink Status First
If you're subscribed to HP Instant Ink:
- Log into your HP Instant Ink account at instantink.hpconnected.com
- Confirm your account is active and payment is current
- If your plan is overdue or cancelled, the printer will stop printing even if the cartridges have ink
Fix 1: Clear the Print Queue
- Open Control Panel > Devices and Printers
- Double-click the HP ENVY 6055
- Click Printer > Cancel All Documents
- Restart the Print Spooler: Windows + R > services.msc > Print Spooler > Restart
Fix 2: Run HP Print and Scan Doctor
- Download HP Print and Scan Doctor from HP's support page
- Run it and select the ENVY 6055
- Click Fix Printing — this resolves the majority of no-print issues automatically
Fix 3: Check the Ink Cartridges
- Open the cartridge access door — the carriage moves to the center
- Remove each cartridge and check that the orange protective tab has been removed
- Inspect the copper contacts on the cartridge — wipe gently with a dry, lint-free cloth
- Reseat each cartridge until it clicks, then close the door
Fix 4: Restore the Printer Connection
The ENVY 6055 requires an active internet connection for Instant Ink validation:
- On the printer, tap the wireless icon — confirm it shows your network name
- If disconnected, run Wireless Setup Wizard from the printer settings menu
- Ensure the router and printer are within range
Fix 5: Reset the Printer
- With the printer on, disconnect the power cord from the rear
- Unplug from the wall outlet
- Wait 60 seconds
- Plug back in — the printer will reset and reconnect
