HP OfficeJet Pro 9015 Offline Fix – Step-by-Step
Category: Troubleshooting · Brand: HP
The HP OfficeJet Pro 9015 is a popular all-in-one, and showing offline is one of the most searched problems for this model. The fix is almost always a network or print spooler issue.
Why the HP OfficeJet Pro 9015 Shows Offline
The 9015 goes offline when:
- Its IP address changed after a router restart (DHCP reassignment)
- The print spooler has stalled on your computer
- A stuck print job is blocking communication
- The printer has lost its Wi-Fi connection
Fix 1: Restart Everything in Order
- Turn off the HP OfficeJet Pro 9015
- Restart your Wi-Fi router and wait for it to fully boot
- Power the printer back on — it will reconnect to your network
- On your computer, go to Control Panel > Devices and Printers
- Right-click the 9015 and click See what's printing > Printer > Use Printer Online (if checked, uncheck it)
Fix 2: Clear the Print Queue
A stuck job prevents new jobs from going through:
- Open Control Panel > Devices and Printers
- Double-click the HP OfficeJet Pro 9015
- Click Printer > Cancel All Documents
- Press Windows + R, type
services.msc, hit Enter - Find Print Spooler, right-click > Restart
Fix 3: Find the Printer's IP and Reconnect
- On the printer: press the wireless icon or go to Setup > Reports > Wireless Network Test
- The printed page shows the current IP address
- Open a browser and type that IP — the HP Embedded Web Server should load
- On your computer: Control Panel > Devices and Printers > right-click 9015 > Printer properties > Ports
- Select the port and click Configure Port — update the IP if it has changed
Fix 4: Run HP Print and Scan Doctor
HP's free tool fixes most connectivity problems automatically:
- Download HP Print and Scan Doctor from HP's support site
- Run it and select your HP OfficeJet Pro 9015
- Click Fix Printing — it will diagnose and repair the connection
Fix 5: Assign a Static IP
To prevent the offline problem from recurring, give the 9015 a fixed IP:
- Open the HP Embedded Web Server (enter the printer's IP in your browser)
- Go to Network > IPv4 > IP Address Configuration
- Set to Manual IP and enter an address outside your router's DHCP range (e.g., 192.168.1.200)
- Save and restart the printer
