How to Fix Samsung Printer Offline on Windows & Mac

Category: Troubleshooting · Brand: Samsung

A Samsung printer showing as offline means your computer cannot communicate with it, even though the printer is powered on. This is usually a network, spooler, or driver issue.

Quick Checks First

Before troubleshooting, confirm:

  • The printer is powered on and not showing any error lights
  • The USB cable is firmly connected (if using USB)
  • The printer and computer are on the same Wi-Fi network (if using wireless)
  • There are no pending print jobs stuck in the queue

Fix 1: Set the Printer to Online (Windows)

  1. Open Control Panel > Devices and Printers
  2. Right-click your Samsung printer
  3. If you see Use Printer Online, click it
  4. Try printing again

Fix 2: Clear the Print Queue

A stuck print job can cause the printer to appear offline:

  1. Open Control Panel > Devices and Printers
  2. Double-click your Samsung printer to open the print queue
  3. Click Printer > Cancel All Documents
  4. Close the window and try again

Fix 3: Restart the Print Spooler

  1. Press Windows + R, type services.msc, press Enter
  2. Scroll to Print Spooler
  3. Right-click and select Restart
  4. Try printing after the service restarts

Fix 4: Remove and Re-add the Printer

  1. Go to Control Panel > Devices and Printers
  2. Right-click your Samsung printer and select Remove device
  3. Click Add a printer and follow the wizard to re-add it
  4. Download the latest driver from HP's support site if prompted

Fix 5: Check Wi-Fi Connection (Wireless Printers)

  1. On the printer, print a Network Configuration Page (usually Menu > Print > Network Config)
  2. Note the IP address shown
  3. On your computer, open a browser and enter that IP — if the printer's web interface loads, it's connected to the network
  4. If not, reconnect the printer to Wi-Fi via the control panel: Menu > Network > Wireless > WLAN Settings

Fix 6: Reinstall the Driver (Mac)

  1. Go to System Settings > Printers & Scanners
  2. Select your Samsung printer and click to remove it
  3. Download the latest driver from HP's support site
  4. Install it, then click + to re-add the printer
