How to Print Double-Sided on Mac

Printing double-sided on Mac saves paper and looks professional. Most printers support automatic duplex printing; others require manual duplexing.
Automatic Duplex Printing on Mac
If your printer has a built-in duplexer (usually listed as "automatic duplex" in specs):
- Open the document you want to print
- Press Cmd + P to open Print dialog
- Click Show Details if options are hidden
- Look for a Two-Sided or Duplex Printing checkbox and enable it
- Choose Long-Edge Binding (standard book-style) or Short-Edge Binding (calendar-style)
- Click Print
Manual Duplex Printing on Mac
If your printer doesn't have a built-in duplexer:
- Press Cmd + P
- In the print dialog, find the Paper Handling section from the dropdown menu
- Set Pages to Print to Odd Only
- Print — the printer will print all odd-numbered pages
- Flip the paper stack and reload it
- Go back to print, set Pages to Print to Even Only, and check Reverse Page Order
- Print the even pages on the back
Set Duplex as Default on Mac
- Open System Settings > Printers & Scanners
- Select your printer and click Options & Supplies
- Go to Options and enable Duplex Unit if shown
- When printing, click Print Settings and set Two-Sided as default
